Relationship Therapy

Every couple is unique. Relationship therapy focusses on the relational dynamics amongst the couple and how they influence each other. The therapy helps couples/individuals resolve conflicts and deal with intimacy or sexual issues in their relationship. It brings an awareness and understanding of the communication, behavioural patterns and the emotional dynamics in the relationship. My aim is to help you understand the present relational difficulties by revisiting the narratives of the past and eventually linking the past to the present.

I believe that the person is not the problem but the way we relate to each other.

I work using two main models, namely systemic and the psychodynamic model. In the Systemic model the client and the therapist are engaged actively. I will help you understand how your immediate system (you and your partner) and the external system (your individual families, friends, work, culture) are affecting each other. The psychodynamic model helps me to link your individual stories of the past to the present. Together, we will make meaning of your early childhood experiences and understand how they have consciously and unconsciously contributed to the relationship between you and your partner.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, I am the facilitator and you are the expert
